The story
Brought to life by Germán Sitz and Pedro Peña, Niño Gordo exploded onto the Buenos Aires dining scene as a genre-defying Asian grill with Argentine soul. This rebellious spirit earned the restaurant a spot at #21 on Latin America’s 50 Best and a Michelin Recommended distinction, cementing its place as a destination for bold, inventive cooking.
The cuisine fuses Japanese, Korean, and Southeast Asian techniques with the bright, intense flavors of Buenos Aires. It’s a distinctly Argentine take on Asian cooking—unexpected, confident, and full of energy. Inside, theatrical rooms pulse with life, each layered with its own visual surprise, while a hidden speakeasy, Dekotora, awaits behind a vintage cigarette machine. Inspired by Japan’s tricked-out trucks, Dekotora serves high-voltage cocktails in a space built for discovery.
Niño Gordo is open Wednesday through Sunday evenings. For larger parties of 7-8 guests, the Niño Gordo Feast is available; groups larger than 8 can inquire about private events.
