The story

zur Linä Wörgl: Seasonal Tyrolean Fine Dining in Schwoich

The kitchen and its philosophy

zur Linä in Schwoich delivers refined Tyrolean cuisine across a seasonal menu shaped by Haubenkoch Thomas Moser and Chefin Caroline Bichler. The kitchen recently earned a solid fourteen points from Gault&Millau for its disciplined approach to regional cooking. Every plate relies on local suppliers and a rotating roster that matches the Alpine calendar. Sous-chef Marius Giacchino supports the daily execution while the team maintains a hands-on production style.

Plates that define the season

Current highlights feature a Tiroler Hirsch tataki served with pickled forest mushrooms and a sharp koju vinaigrette. The Beef Wellington arrives crisp and precisely portioned, meeting the high standards noted by reviewers. Stone potatoes and delicate carpaccio preparations complete the savory progression. This steady output proves how straightforward Austrian kitchen techniques can achieve remarkable clarity when ingredients stay simple.

Space and seasonal rhythm

The dining room occupies a converted cow shed that retains its original timber beams while introducing modern comfort seating. Since opening in 2016, the venue has balanced polished service with an unpretentious vibe. Winter operations run from November through March before the entire staff relocates to the nearby Stöfflalm for summer service. This cyclical schedule keeps the culinary focus sharp and the produce consistently fresh.

First things first. Zur Linä is what the Bierol Taproom used to be. What remains is Thomas Moser at the stove and a menu that is more exciting than ever. Together with Caroline Bichler, Moser has transformed the former cowshed of the Stöfflhof into a fine-dining hotspot in the Unterland. The Tyrolean venison is absolutely superb: tataki with pickled mushrooms and koju vinaigrette. Or the beef Wellington. Wellington? Hello? It exceeds all expectations. First, you're surprised to find this dish here, and second, by the quality it arrives on your plate. We will hear a lot more about Zur Linä. Because they're making waves, but above all, because they're simply great.
