The story
In the heart of Antwerpen, on Lange Koepoortstraat, Restaurant Nathan has held a Michelin star since 2019. Chef Nathan Van Echelpoel describes his cooking as a search for balance between perfection and simplicity, working with seasonal products of the highest quality. His kitchen is rooted in a creative French-Belgian tradition, lifted by subtle Asian influences — a pairing that feels natural, never forced.
Nathan Van Echelpoel is the chef; his partner, Eva Van de Peer, places the guest’s experience at the centre of everything. Together they run a restaurant that is warm, understated, and attentive. The service matches the cooking: precise but not stiff, welcoming without fuss.
The menu is offered in three lengths: four courses (€115), five courses (€135), and six courses (€170). On Friday and Saturday evenings, only the six-course menu is served. A sommelier provides wine pairings or a house-made juice pairing, both chosen with respect for nature and the product. The juice pairing is non-alcoholic, made in-house, and designed to complement the dishes as thoughtfully as the wines.
The restaurant has a sunny terrace, ideal for a lunch aperitif or coffee. Inside, large windows open wide, blurring the line between indoors and out. Climate control keeps things comfortable when the weather turns warm. The setting is simple, elegant, and focused on the meal.
Reservations can be made up to three months in advance. A deposit of €50 per person is required for dinner. Allergies should be communicated ahead of time so the menu can be adjusted. The restaurant can also be booked exclusively for private events of up to 24 guests.
