The story
Set in the majestic Galeries Royales, just steps from the Grand Place, De l'Ogenblik has been a fixture of Brussels dining since 1969. The restaurant was founded by a group of friends that included Georges Neefs and the artist Picha, and soon after, Geoffroy Greindl took over. In 1989, Yves Delruelle joined as manager, later becoming the sole proprietor and the enduring heart of the house. His presence, along with a remarkably loyal team, ensures a consistency of service and quality that defines this classic Brussels restaurant.
For over thirty years, chef Gonzalo Gomez led the kitchen. Since 2005, chef Alain Declercq has carried the torch, maintaining the same commitment to fine French and Belgian specialties without compromise. The kitchen works from a seasonal carte that changes regularly, and the menu includes vegetarian options. A tasting menu is available, and the lunch service (Tuesday through Friday) offers a lighter expression of the same careful cooking. The Menu Banquet Gastronomique presents a refined multi-course experience with a house apéritif included.
The atmosphere is elegant and charming, a refined yet welcoming setting that attracts both local gourmets and visiting celebrities from the worlds of showbiz and entertainment. The restaurant stays open until midnight, and the extensive wine list – strong on Bordeaux, Burgundy, and French regional bottles – complements the kitchen's work.
This dedication to classic cuisine and warm hospitality has earned De l'Ogenblik a Michelin Recommended distinction in 2026, a fitting recognition for a restaurant that has quietly upheld the standards of Brussels gastronomy for more than half a century.
