The story

Henri Brussels | Modern French Restaurant in Brussels

A Meeting Place for Pleasure and Business

Henri, located on the rue de Flandre in Brussels, is a restaurant that balances classic technique with creative flair. The kitchen prepares 'classic' dishes according to the rules of the art, and complements them with inventive seasonal suggestions that change every four weeks. True to their passion, these suggestions often carry a Spanish twist, always with respect for the producer and the season.

The approach has earned Henri a place in the Michelin Guide for the Benelux, where it is listed as Recommended. This recognition reflects the restaurant's steady, quality-driven cooking and its commitment to sourcing with care.

The atmosphere is welcoming, making it a suitable spot for both a relaxed dinner and a business meal. The restaurant also offers an interesting wine list and caters to vegetarians, with options for takeaway and delivery.

Henri is closed on weekends, giving the team time to source the best ingredients and prepare for the week ahead. The restaurant's own words describe it as a place where pleasure and business meet, grounded in respect for craft and season.

Oh, hey there trilingual vibes and pottekeis appetizers. Here at Henri, the message is clear: you’re is Brussels! Downtown Dansaert actually, to be precise, which brothers Sven and Jurgen Campens (also behind Café Monk) have been returning to a sense of authenticity for the past 20 years now. Seated in a slightly chilly dining room (immaculate walls, blond wood, neon wall lights, an anachronistic aquarium), we dug into some of Jurgen’s tapas-style plates: mouthwatering black angus beef tongue with Parmesan and vinaigrette; palourde clams with a zing of ponzu and chili – to die for; or even some unusual endive gratin croquettes. Feeling famished? The chef also sends out three- and four-course menus, and a handful of mains (which are quite expensive), including lacquered Holstein beef ribs or sweetbreads with truffle. And for the specialty dessert, try the Catalan cream espuma with mixed berries and vanilla ice cream, as pleasant as the end of summer on La Rambla. One last thing: as this is a predominantly Flemish spot, Friday lunch is all about fish! // Jean Gourmand
