The story
La Buvette occupies a listed Art Deco townhouse on Chaussée d'Alsemberg in Saint-Gilles, Brussels. The space is warm and inviting, with outdoor seating available for warmer evenings. The atmosphere is casual yet refined, with attentive service that makes each visit feel personal.
The kitchen focuses on a single tasting menu (€68) that draws from both French and Belgian culinary traditions while adding international accents. Dishes change with the seasons, always favoring local and organic produce. The menu is playful but precise: expect amuse-bouches like a tomato, kalamata olive and basil combination, or a fennel churro, followed by courses such as marinated and grilled mackerel with preserved lemon and artichoke, grilled octopus with confit pepper, cucumber and passion fruit, or roasted red mullet with white asparagus and reinette apple. A lamb saddle with anise, parsley root and brocoletti is a typical main. Dessert might be a milk and vanilla tart with pistachio crumble and Gariguette strawberry sorbet, finished with mignardises like melon confit with lime and shiso, or a cocoa halva with mirabelle.
Vegetarian, gluten-free and lactose-free options are available on request. A wine pairing (3, 4 or 5 glasses) can be added, as well as a non-alcoholic pairing.
The restaurant’s consistent quality and original approach earned it a Michelin Recommended distinction in 2026. It is a place where modern cuisine feels grounded in tradition, and where every dish reflects a respect for the product and the season.
