Since 1892, this Brussels institution has evolved into a two-Michelin-star destination. Chef David Martin’s cooking is warm, refined, and deeply local yet open to the world.

The story

La Paix, Brussels – Two Michelin Star Asian Fusion by Chef David Martin

A Historic Address, Reimagined

La Paix has been a presence in Anderlecht since 1892, housed in a neo-classical building. Inside, the restaurant’s history mingles with contemporary art by Charles Kaisin, Kasper Hamacher, and Lana Ruellan, all visible from the open kitchen. The atmosphere is warm without pretension, generous yet refined. As of September 2026, La Paix moves to the Corinthia Hotel Astoria in Brussels city centre, maintaining its signature style.

The Chef and His Philosophy

At the helm is David Martin, named Chef de l’Année 2019 by Gault&Millau and awarded 17.5/20 by the same guide. His cuisine is described as “a condensation of the Belgian microcosm: warm but without fuss, generous but refined, subtle but powerful, deeply local but open to the world.” This approach translates into an Asian Fusion style that draws on local ingredients while embracing global influences. The result is cooking that feels both grounded and adventurous.

Recognition and Awards

La Paix holds two Michelin stars, a testament to the precision and creativity of Martin’s kitchen. The restaurant’s accolades reflect a commitment to innovation that goes beyond the plate—Martin was also named the most innovative culinary entrepreneur by Gault&Millau in 2017. The dining experience is complemented by valet parking, air conditioning, and a carefully curated wine pairing program.

What to Expect

The menu changes with the seasons, guided by the chef’s instinct for balance and surprise. While the restaurant does not publish specific dishes online, the promise is one of attentive hospitality: “Our goal is to take care of you, better every day.” Private dining, chef’s tables, and catering are available, making it suitable for special occasions.

Note: La Paix relocates to the Corinthia Hotel Astoria, Rue Royale 103, 1000 Brussels, from 15 September 2026. Bookings remain through the current website.
