The story

La Truffe Noire: Brussels Temple of Truffle, Classic Cuisine – Michelin Recommended

A passion for the black diamond

Since 1988, La Truffe Noire has been a Brussels institution devoted to the truffle. Housed in a stately townhouse on Boulevard de la Cambre, the restaurant offers a classic cuisine that treats truffles – both black and white – with the utmost reverence. The team describes its approach as “intemporal, sublimating truffles with the most intense research,” and diners quickly sense that this is a kitchen built on deep knowledge and genuine love for the ingredient.

The Michelin Recommended award reflects the consistency and finesse of the experience. Every creation balances tradition and modernity, whether you choose a truffle-rich signature like the “Eclats de diamant noir en surprise” (ravioli filled with truffle slivers and celeriac) or the long-running Menu Privilège, a fixture for 38 years. The cuisine is squarely classic, with Mediterranean flourishes – think Loup de mer fumé minute with truffle julienne, or a delicate risotto with Malines asparagus and morels.

An atmosphere of quiet luxury

Inside, the dining room is dressed in serene teal tones, a calm backdrop for the intensity of the food. A terrace invites al fresco meals in fine weather, while a private salon (the “gallery of wine books”) accommodates groups of six to twenty. Valet parking, a cigar lounge, and a takeaway service – including fresh truffles and truffle-infused products – round out the offerings. The restaurant’s own photos and videos on the media page reveal a space that is both refined and welcoming.

Seasonal menus, seasonal truffles

The menu changes with the seasons, always putting the best produce forward. The Diamond Menu and the Privilege Menu showcase the kitchen’s ability to pair truffles with delicate seafood, game, and prime cuts. In spring, white asparagus and morels take centre stage; in autumn, the fleeting white truffle appears. For those who prefer a lighter approach, a weekday lunch menu is available, and younger diners (under 30) can enjoy a dedicated “Jeunes Gastronomes” menu.

La Truffe Noire is a place where the truffle is not an afterthought, but the reason for being. Its classic cuisine, Mediterranean touches, and unwavering commitment to quality make it a worthy destination in Brussels’ fine dining landscape.
