The story
In a warm, distinguished atmosphere, host Ling welcomes guests to Yijiangnan (affectionately called Yi), a restaurant that has been redefining Chinese dining in Brussels since 2013. Housed in a tastefully decorated former manor house, the space blends modern lounge elegance with cozy charm—think patterned wallpaper, hydrangea-filled back garden, and a calm, professional service.
The kitchen is led by a chef from a family of highly respected Chinese cooks, whose training runs deep in the gastronomic traditions of China. Every dish is made to order using fresh daily ingredients. The menu offers both traditional Chinese fare and imaginative Asian creations developed in collaboration with renowned Thai chef Akhen. The result is a cuisine that is both authentic and inventive, shifting with the seasons and product availability. Here, Chinese fusion is not a gimmick but a thoughtful layering of flavors.
The wine list, mostly French, Spanish, and Italian, is carefully selected to match the refined dishes. Ling’s dedication to quality and hospitality earned her the honorary title of Chevalier de l’Ordre de Léopold II in 2017—a rare recognition for a restaurateur. More recently, the restaurant has been listed as Michelin Recommended, a nod to its consistent excellence and its ability to offer a genuine, cliché-free Chinese experience.
Yijiangnan also offers takeaway and catering, with limited hours for pickup. It is open for dinner on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, plus Sunday lunch and dinner.
