The story
Chef Martin Volkaerts grew up immersed in gastronomy. In 2022, he took over the family restaurant and moved it to a new location: a green, leafy setting in the centre of Genval. The result is L'Amandier, a place where a rich history meets a warm, charming atmosphere.
The restaurant offers a refined, gourmet take on gastronomic cuisine. Menus change with the seasons and are built around precise, elegant dishes. At lunch, guests can choose from the Traversée (a shorter menu) or the Voyage, which adds an extra course. A Business lunch formula is also available. Evening dining extends to L’Envol, a longer tasting menu.
Typical dishes might include line-caught pollock with green celery, or sole with green asparagus and pistachio. Other courses have featured beef from the Holstein region paired with aubergine and black garlic, or a dessert of strawberries with agastache. Wine pairings and flavoured water pairings are offered for each menu.
L'Amandier has earned a place in the Michelin guide with its “Recommended” distinction, a recognition that speaks to the consistency and ambition of the kitchen. The restaurant is closed Tuesday evening, Wednesday, Saturday lunch, and Sunday.
