The story
Boîte is the kind of place where the kitchen feels like home – because it is. Hilde and Bernard run this welcoming restaurant in Sint-Idesbald, a quiet coastal corner of Koksijde. Their motto, "Taste the world, share the food," sets the tone for everything that comes out of the kitchen.
This summer 2026, the team grew in a meaningful way. Hilde's son Jef Syryn returned to the place where his passion for cooking began. After five years in London – working as a private chef, then sous chef, and finally head chef at the acclaimed Brunswick House – he brings back a backpack full of experience, creativity, and ambition. In Boîte, he joins his mother to create original dishes with pure flavours and a distinct signature, all while staying true to the style regulars have come to love.
Boîte describes its food as a culinary world tour with spices and herbs in the lead. Local produce gets a global coat, with special attention to inventive vegetable preparations. Every dish is placed in the middle of the table, encouraging guests to explore the menu together, step outside their comfort zone, and discover new tastes. The result is a mix of dishes and stories – a shared experience meant to slow down and enjoy.
In 2026, Boîte earned a Michelin Recommended distinction, a nod to the consistency and care that Hilde, Jef, and their team bring to the table. It’s a quiet validation of a restaurant that lets its food – and its family spirit – do the talking.
