The story
At Le Métro in La Louvière, the story is one of two passions meeting. Giuseppe, who loves the saxophone, and Rita, a chef driven by the flavours of her native Sicily, have built a restaurant that feels both personal and precise. Theirs is a place where Italian cuisine is treated with respect, and every plate reflects Rita’s skill with fresh, seasonal ingredients.
Rita’s cooking is rooted in the recipes her mother taught her, but she is not afraid to explore. From the north to the south of Italy, her menus change with the seasons and her own creative impulses. Fresh pasta, inventive appetisers, and carefully crafted desserts are all made in-house, showcasing the depth of Italian gastronomy. The restaurant’s wine list is notably interesting, with bottles sourced from across Italy, including a fine selection of Barolo, Brunello, and sparkling wines from Prosecco to Franciacorta.
Le Métro has earned its place in the Michelin guide, and is also listed in the Gault&Millau 2026. This recognition speaks to the consistent quality that Rita and Giuseppe deliver. The atmosphere is warm and family-run, but with the refinement of a fine dining establishment, making it suitable for both a business lunch and a special evening out.
Beyond the kitchen, the couple have created their own spirit: Bellomo Gin, a distinctive gin with surprising notes of pea, best enjoyed with an Italian tonic. It is available at the restaurant and through their online boutique, alongside other fine products. Whether you come for the pasta, the Sicilian-inspired dishes, or simply to share a moment in a setting that balances tradition and modernity, Le Métro offers a genuine taste of Italy in La Louvière.
