The story
Chef Eric Fernez brings his culinary expertise to Le Faitout, a restaurant in Baudour, near Mons, that has earned a Bib Gourmand from the Michelin Guide for its good quality, good value cooking. The restaurant is part of the Fernez family's wider hospitality offering, which includes a hotel and a catering service, all rooted in a philosophy of generosity and excellence.
The atmosphere at Le Faitout is welcoming and unpretentious. The restaurant features air-conditioned dining rooms, a terrace for outdoor seating, and can host events and private parties. The Gault & Millau guide has praised the establishment for its generosity and the quality of its ingredients, noting that the bread is made on site and the fries are never from a packet. The team prioritises freshness, sourcing from select producers, such as Ardenne ham from Buchet and PQA pork.
The menu, which changes regularly, highlights classic French cuisine. The restaurant’s own croquettes aux crevettes grises (grey shrimp croquettes) are a house specialty. A carefully curated wine list, described as worthy of a great house, complements the dishes, and wine pairing is available. Takeaway is also an option for most of the menu, with adjustments made to ensure quality at home.
Le Faitout is open daily from 11:45 and 18:30. Reservations are taken by phone only. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible.
