The story

Gospoja Restaurant in Vrbnik, Croatia | Award-Winning Coastal Dining

A Family Kitchen on Krk

Gospoja in Vrbnik delivers refined Croatian cuisine across a limestone ledge overlooking the Velebit Channel. Ivan Toljanić founded the venue in 1994, drawing its name from the adjacent Church of Our Lady of Health. The Toljanić and Brusić families now steer the kitchen toward straightforward preparations that respect local olive oil, fresh catch, and pasture-raised lamb. Guests visiting the coastal location will find meals built around seasonal harvests rather than rigid formulas.

Vineyard Motifs and Sunlit Terraces

Hand-painted landscape depictions and carved vineyard patterns cover the interior walls. Wooden tables line the stone perimeter while large windows reflect the water below. Guests step out onto the terrace to watch the afternoon light shift across the bay. The space balances historic agricultural references with uncluttered sightlines that keep the horizon in focus.

Signature Plates and Indigenous Wines

Chefs assemble Adriatic prawn tartare with diced apple or pear and a dollop of mascarpone. Main courses feature turbot fillet dressed in a sharp caper sauce beside creamy polenta, or Krk-style lamb shank braised with wild sage and immortelle flowers. This dedication to authentic Croatian cooking secured a 11.5 rating from Gault&Millau in 2026. Each dish pairs cleanly with the estate’s extensive Žlahtina collection.
