The story
For a quarter of a century, Mon Ami has been a fixture in the heart of Velika Gorica, bringing the taste of the Adriatic to the Turopolje region. The kitchen, led by chef Goran Marko Beus, focuses on Mediterranean cuisine that highlights the best of the sea. Diners can expect daily fresh and wild white fish, Kvarner prawns, lobster, and shellfish, alongside dishes like tuna carpaccio with black truffle and fried anchovies in olive oil. The menu also features black risotto from cuttlefish, Adriatic squid, and octopus salad, as well as smoked mussels. For those who prefer land over sea, a beefsteak from the grill in a truffle sauce is available, and vegetarian and gluten-free options are offered.
The restaurant’s commitment to quality extends to its own extra virgin olive oil from a grove in Skradin, which has been awarded gold medals. Guests can also sample Croatian green olives and olive tea. The wine list boasts 60 labels, primarily from Croatian producers, and Mon Ami produces its own house wine, a cuvée of Chardonnay and Graševina from the Pokuplje sub-region.
Located on Trg Kralja Tomislava in the center of Velika Gorica, Mon Ami is also conveniently close to Zagreb International Airport, making it an easy stop for travelers. The interior uses natural materials that reflect the restaurant’s approach to living and business. With 70 seats and a separate private room for 10 people, the space is suited for both casual meals and closed business meetings. The restaurant also organizes themed evenings and days dedicated to seasonal local ingredients.
Mon Ami’s consistent quality has earned it a recommendation from the Michelin Guide, a recognition it holds with pride. The team, led by chef Goran Marko Beus, focuses on creativity and hospitality, ensuring that every guest feels welcome, whether they are a local regular or a traveler between flights.
