The story
Bach & Nurup opened at Budolfi Plads in Aalborg with a clear mission: to create a community hub where every visit feels memorable. The restaurant draws inspiration from the vibrant energy of New York, the charm of France, and the aesthetics of Japan, resulting in a dining experience that feels both cosmopolitan and grounded.
The team describes their philosophy as "local ingredients spiced with Asian flavour nuances and French techniques." This approach is evident across all three daily services. Mornings begin with fresh coffee and homemade pastries. Lunch is presented as an opportunity to enjoy something "beyond the ordinary," where each bite celebrates the gifts of nature and a deep passion for cooking.
Evening service is where Bach & Nurup fully unfolds its culinary universe. Guests can choose between two tasting menus or order à la carte. The Prestige Tasting menu is a multi-course affair featuring snacks like Hiramasa sashimi on toast, Wagyu A5 nigiri, and oysters with ginger and wasabi, followed by dishes such as Danish langoustine with red curry, grilled quail with miso and red wine, and a citrus dessert with pistachio and white chocolate. The shorter Tasting menu offers a similar journey at a more accessible price point.
The restaurant’s commitment to quality and hospitality has earned it a Michelin Recommended distinction, a recognition that aligns with its goal of offering "extraordinary food with gracious and highly accommodating service" in a warm, inviting atmosphere. With counter dining, outdoor seating, and an interesting wine list, Bach & Nurup positions itself as a home away from home for Aalborg diners.
