The story
In the Maakri Quarter of Tallinn, Härg has built a reputation on the simple, powerful act of cooking over real fire. Owned by renowned grill masters Enn Tobreluts and Andres Tuule, the restaurant opened in 2018 and has since become a destination for those who appreciate the precision and flavor that only charcoal can deliver. Härg’s commitment to quality has been recognized with a Michelin Bib Gourmand award for three consecutive years, including the 2024 edition of the Michelin Guide Estonia.
The kitchen is led by executive chef Taigo Lepik, a former President of the Estonian Chefs Association and former Head Chef at the Office of the President of Estonia. His modern gastronomic approach combines with Tobreluts’ and Tuule’s exceptional grilling skills to create a menu that surprises and satisfies. The team uses only premium raw produce sourced from the best farms and manufacturers, and cooks most dishes over hot charcoal—some even inside it. A signature dish is Enn Tobreluts’ “dirty steak,” where the meat is cooked directly in the embers.
The atmosphere is stylish and contemporary, designed by architect Ines Haak and designer Aap Piho, with paintings by artist Silver Koppel. The dining room, complete with a 50-seat outdoor terrace open in summer, is set within the historically layered Maakri Quarter, a former industrial area that now blends new and old architecture. Live music adds to the experience, making Härg a place where the food, setting, and service come together naturally.
The wine list is particularly extensive, with most wines available by the glass or bottle, some served via Coravin. Whether for a private party, corporate event, or a simple dinner, Härg offers a warm, concrete expression of Tallinn’s evolving culinary scene.
