The story
On Vabaduse puiestee in Nõmme, Paju Villa occupies a pure 1931 Art Nouveau building, named after its exacting original owner, Karoline Paju. After decades of neglect under Soviet rule, the villa was lovingly restored by owner Jaan Pelmas, a project inspired by his late daughter, Katrin. Today, it is recognised as the best-renovated building in the Nõmme milieu area, blending timeless elegance with a warm, homelike hospitality.
Paju Villa describes its approach as keeping things “clear and simple – from the menu to the interior to the garden” while seasoning each visit with small, generous surprises. The result is a restaurant that feels equally suited to a romantic dinner, a family lunch, or a private celebration. The villa’s bright, light-filled spaces and natural surroundings make it a natural choice for everything from birthdays and baby showers to weddings and corporate meetings, with private rooms available for up to 20 guests and the entire villa accommodating up to 80.
The kitchen offers a modern cuisine that changes with the season. The menu, available for lunch and dinner, includes dishes such as veal tartare with Kolotsi farm cheese and parsley mayo, burrata with BBQ tomato and Bloody Mary consommé, and an octopus risotto with wild garlic pesto. A dedicated section for “true gourmands” features options like the Paju Villa seafood soup, duck with fig and Jerusalem artichoke cream, and miso-glazed eggplant. Desserts include a marzipan tiramisu and an angervaksa panna cotta.
Every Sunday, the villa hosts a three-course brunch from 11:00 to 17:00, starting with a shared starter and offering a choice of mains and sweets. The restaurant uses only free-range eggs from free-roaming hens.
Paju Villa’s recognition as a Michelin Recommended restaurant for 2026 reflects the consistent quality and thoughtful execution that defines this Tallinn dining destination.
