The story
In the heart of Tallinn, on Vene 7, Rado is the creation of Rado and Triinu – two people who chose to open a restaurant while others were closing. They had previously run Ribe together and, unwilling to leave this location, they launched Rado. The opening was intense (“they wanted to kill each other a few days before”), but the honesty between them became the foundation of the quality they offer guests.
Triinu’s dream of owning a restaurant began while working at a bar in New Zealand. Rado, the head chef, shared that ambition. Rado came to Estonia for the good weather (read: women) and found a partner in Triinu – a woman whose skills extend far beyond riding tractors. She is a sharp businesswoman and an exceptional host with the widest smile in town. When the opportunity came, they knew it would not knock twice.
The result is a space where every detail – from the sanded floors to the repainted ceilings – was done by the couple, their friends, and family. The hard work gave the old rooms a new face: the face of Rado.
Rado’s philosophy is built on the beauty of simplicity and accessible quality. The contemporary menu changes with the seasons and is viewable only on-site, encouraging guests to experience the moment. The kitchen, led by Rado, focuses on clear flavors and refined execution – the kind of cooking that earned Rado a place in the Michelin Guide as a Recommended restaurant in 2026.
The atmosphere is deliberately cosy and informal. Triinu’s warmth as a host matches Rado’s culinary charm. The couple welcomes guests as they would in their own home: with great care and attention. Whether you come for lunch, dinner, or a private party, the space – with both indoor and outdoor seating – feels personal and unhurried.
Rado is a testament to what happens when passion, honesty, and hard work come together. It is contemporary dining stripped of pretence, made accessible by two people who simply wanted to create a place they would love to eat at themselves.
