The story
For more than fifty years, this timbered auberge in Les Damps has been a landmark of Norman hospitality. When Amelie and William Boquelet took over in 2008, they brought a fresh spirit while honouring the traditions that made the address beloved. Today, L’Auberge de la Pomme is a Michelin Recommended table – a recognition earned by the chef’s precise, seasonal cooking.
William Boquelet describes his style simply: a cuisine of the moment, built from the best seasonal products. He sources locally first – from the farms and markets of Normandy – but also roams across France for exceptional ingredients, from Bresse poultry to Limousin beef and Pyrenean lamb. The result is modern cuisine rooted in terroir: dishes like sashimi of wild Saint-Pierre with a nori-soya marinade and sharp rhubarb, or roasted blue lobster with butter and aromates, served with spring vegetables and carbonara cream. Every plate reflects the chef’s exacting eye and his commitment to letting produce speak.
The dining room and, in fine weather, the terrace alongside the River Eure offer a bucolic escape. Apple trees dot the garden, and the half-timbered facade of the auberge frames the scene. It is a setting that feels both timeless and quietly refined – exactly the kind of place that rewards a detour, whether you are coming from Paris, Rouen, or Évreux. With a full tasting menu, à la carte options, and a Saturday lunch formula, the restaurant welcomes guests for leisurely midday or evening meals.
