The story
Le Garde Champêtre takes its name and spirit from Monsieur Droze, the last rural guard of Gyé-sur-Seine. A memorable figure, he would cycle through the streets with a homemade megaphone to announce village news. The restaurant honours that legacy of protecting and connecting the rural community. Located on the route des Riceys, this modern cuisine restaurant aims to stimulate social interaction, offering a children’s play area, pétanque, and badminton for everyone, not just diners.
The kitchen is fuelled by the restaurant’s own one‑hectare organic farm. Meals are prepared à la minute, using the freshest ingredients, with an open fire as the main heat source. The result is a menu that changes daily according to the garden, market arrivals, and the chef’s inspiration. Lunch menus start at €35, while the Saturday lunch unique menu is €55, and dinner (Thursday to Sunday) runs at €80.
Le Garde Champêtre has earned a Michelin Recommended distinction for 2026, a recognition that aligns with its commitment to honest, ingredient‑driven cooking. The restaurant’s seasonal, modern cuisine is paired with an interesting wine list, and outdoor seating is available when weather permits. With wheelchair access and on‑site parking, it welcomes guests to experience the warmth of a rural table that feels both timeless and contemporary.
