The story
On the heights of Monbazillac, overlooking the Dordogne valley and the Bergerac vineyards, La Tour des Vents is the gastronomic restaurant of the Domaine de la Tour des Vents. Chef Damien Fagette, who took over the estate in 2015 alongside two partners, leads a kitchen that has held a Michelin star since 2010. The restaurant’s modern cuisine respects the traditions of Périgord while introducing a creative, contemporary edge.
The setting is as striking as the food. The dining room and panoramic terrace offer sweeping views across the Monbazillac vineyards, a landscape that has shaped the domaine’s story since the 15th century, when the Moulin de Malfourat was built on this spot. The restaurant’s philosophy is rooted in the local terroir: ingredients are sourced from regional producers, and the menus evolve with the seasons. Each dish aims to highlight the quality of Périgord’s produce, from the region’s celebrated wines to its fresh, seasonal ingredients.
Wine pairings are carefully curated from a cellar that includes local Monbazillac and Bergerac crus, as well as other prestigious references. The restaurant’s modern cuisine is available through a Gourmet menu and a Bistronomique menu, both designed to offer a complete experience of the domaine’s savoir-faire.
La Tour des Vents is part of a larger estate that also includes the more casual Bistrot de Malfourat, guest lodges, and event spaces. But here, in the Michelin-starred dining room, the focus is on precision, elegance, and a deep connection to the land.
