The story
Since 1982, L'Imparfait has occupied a 12th-century stone building in the historic heart of Bergerac. The dining room, with its exposed stone walls and monumental fireplace, offers a setting that is both ancient and intimate. In warmer months, the shaded terrace opens onto a pedestrian street, allowing guests to dine in the open air.
The kitchen, led by the Chef and their brigade, creates menus that change with the seasons. The approach is rooted in the Périgord terroir while employing modern techniques. Dishes named on the restaurant's own site include sole meunière, a filet of beef served with a seared escalope of foie gras, and langoustines wrapped in kataifi pastry. The restaurant also highlights its use of exceptional ingredients, such as caviar from Neuvic.
L'Imparfait’s recognition in the Michelin guide reflects the consistency and quality of its cooking. The restaurant offers three fixed menus — Tradition, Plaisir, and Découverte — as well as an à la carte selection, all designed to showcase the depth of modern cuisine in the region.
Whether for a special event or a simple tête-à-tête dinner, the restaurant balances a warm welcome with a refined sense of place, proving that a centuries-old building can be the perfect home for contemporary French cooking.
