The story

La Petite Maison de Cucuron – Michelin-Starred Classic Cuisine in Cucuron

A house on the square

On the quiet Place de l’Étang in Cucuron, a 19th-century village house with discreet shutters opens daily to the sounds of cooking and the golden light of the Luberon. La Petite Maison de Cucuron is not a restaurant one stumbles into; it is a place you enter deliberately, drawn by the promise of a meal that feels both personal and deeply rooted.

Chef Éric Sapet has been at the stove here since 2007. His path to this kitchen passed through the finest Parisian addresses – La Tour d’Argent, La Maison Prunier, La Marée, Jacques Cagna – and through the Ardèche and the Luberon, where he earned a first Michelin star at the Mas des Herbes Blanches. At La Petite Maison, he has held a star since 2009, a recognition that speaks to the consistency and sincerity of his work.

A cuisine of the market and the season

Sapet’s cooking is rooted in the classic cuisine of Provence, but it is never stiff. He works with the day’s best produce, letting ingredients speak without unnecessary ornament. The result is generous, precise, and unmistakably personal – a plate that tastes of the south without shouting about it. The menu changes with the seasons, and the chef’s long relationship with local vignerons means each dish can be paired with a carefully chosen wine. The wine list is a reflection of that same passion, built on deep knowledge and personal connections.

Spaces that shape the meal

The restaurant offers several settings, each with its own character. In warm months, tables are set under a trellis of wisteria and jasmine, or directly on the square beneath the plane trees, with the village pond as a backdrop. Indoors, the upstairs dining room is paneled in old wood, intimate and quiet, with just seven tables. A small salon offers an even more private corner, ideal for a discreet conversation. There is also a table d’hôtes, where guests share a convivial, family-style meal. Whichever space you choose, the atmosphere is one of unhurried warmth – elegant without pretension, welcoming without fuss.

La Petite Maison de Cucuron is a place where the meal becomes a moment suspended, a taste of Provençal life at its most refined.
