The story
MatCha is the story of a couple who met during their training at the prestigious École Ferrandi. After their studies, they returned to Charlotte’s native region and opened their restaurant in Cucuron, a decision that felt natural. For nearly eight years, they have been sharing their love of cooking and local ingredients.
The name MatCha is a blend of their own names—Matt and Cha—and their cuisine is a true collaboration. They describe their style as a "cuisine de partage" (a sharing cuisine), a philosophy that extends from the plate to the dining room. The restaurant offers a daily lunch menu and a separate dinner menu, both changing with the seasons.
The lunch menu at MatCha is a concise three-course affair, priced at 32€. It begins with starters like a creamy chestnut and mushroom soup with ras el hanout, or raw tuna with beets, blackberries, shiso, and stracciatella. Mains might include a braised veal stuffed cabbage or a fragrant curry of squash with lemongrass and ginger. Desserts are simple and refined, such as a rice pudding with pistachio and kiwi, or a carrot cake with fresh orange.
For those who want to begin with a shared bite, aperitifs include potato and herb croquettes with a smoked cheese sauce, or a coque (a local pastry) filled with soubressade sausage.
MatCha’s approach to hospitality goes beyond its dining room. The chefs offer cooking classes, either at the restaurant or at your home. They also provide a private chef service, allowing you to enjoy a meal with guests while they handle the preparation and service. For larger celebrations, they offer catering for weddings, baptisms, and anniversaries, with custom menus designed together.
The restaurant has earned a place in the Michelin guide, a recognition of their consistent, thoughtful modern cuisine. It is a quiet, personal spot in the heart of Cucuron, where the focus remains on the food, the people, and the place.
