The story
At 5 avenue de Provence, along the Champ de Mars in Épinal, Les Ducs de Lorraine has quietly established itself as a destination for modern cuisine that honours the Vosges terroir. The restaurant’s Michelin One Star – awarded in 2026 – reflects the consistency and precision of a team that works with fresh, seasonal ingredients and a clear culinary signature.
The kitchen is led by Stéphane Ringer, Rémi Gornet and Antoine Lecomte, all three Maîtres restaurateurs and Maîtres cuisiniers de France. They are also members of the Collège Culinaires de France and the Club Prosper Montagné. Their cooking is a “cuisine revisitée” where tradition meets modern technique, and where local flavours are treated with delicacy. Aromas, spices and sauces are built with care, never overpowering the produce.
The restaurant occupies a charming house with a cosy, intimate interior that feels removed from the city. In warmer months, a terrace surrounded by greenery seats up to twenty guests, offering a quiet, serene spot in the heart of Épinal. The atmosphere is deliberately unhurried, designed for lingering over a meal.
The wine list is described as “généreuse” – generous – with hidden gems that complement the ever-changing menu. The focus on fresh, seasonal produce means the dishes evolve regularly, anchored by the bounty of the region. Whether on the terrace or inside, the experience is one of refined simplicity, driven by a deep respect for the ingredients and the land.
Les Ducs de Lorraine is a testament to the vitality of modern cuisine in the Vosges, recognised by Michelin for its high quality and consistency.
