The story
Just steps from the water, Roche Belle sits under the shade of century-old olive trees, offering a terrace that welcomes guests nearly year-round. When the air turns cool, two warm dining rooms—one of which can be privatised for groups of 14 to 18—provide a cosy refuge. The setting is calm and green, a quiet escape on the Corniche du Liouquet in La Ciotat.
Chef Damien Arnaud leads the kitchen with a philosophy rooted in the seasons. He prepares a savoury Mediterranean cuisine built from quality, market-fresh produce. At lunch, a formule at 29 euros (entrée, plat, dessert) changes daily, reflecting the morning's market finds. The carte and the Menu de la Corniche evolve throughout the year, always anchored in the Provencal tradition of letting ingredients speak.
This commitment to good quality, good value cooking has earned Roche Belle a Bib Gourmand from the Michelin Guide—a recognition of the kind of straightforward, generous cooking that defines the best of the region. The restaurant is also listed in the Gault & Millau guide. The wine list, carefully selected to accompany the food, adds another layer to the experience, and the team, led by Edwige Guesnet, ensures the welcome is as warm as the Provencal sun.
