The story
Since 1880, the Hôtel du Phare has stood as a symbol of Belle-Île-en-Mer. After a half-century under the Pacalet family, the Lorenzetti family took over, completing a full renovation of the hotel and its restaurant before reopening this institution for locals and visitors alike. The charm and welcome that have long defined this monument remain intact.
The restaurant and bistrot at Hôtel du Phare offer simple, deeply flavourful cooking built around outstanding ingredients. The kitchen puts the product first, working with beautiful seafood landed in Sauzon’s own harbour — spider crabs, tourteaux, wild sea bass — alongside pork and lamb from Belle-Île-en-Mer. The approach is straightforward, generous, and rooted in the island’s larder. This focus on quality has earned the restaurant a Michelin Recommended distinction.
Guests can choose between the restaurant, with its refined take on modern cuisine, and the bistrot, which offers a more relaxed setting. Both share the same philosophy: letting the produce speak. The atmosphere is warm and unhurried, with views over the port and the lighthouse that gives the hotel its name. Whether you come for lunch or dinner, the sea is always in sight.
