The story
Le Vivier sits on a granite outcrop in Lomener, a coastal village of Ploemeur just west of Lorient. The Atlantic stretches to the horizon, and the Isle of Groix floats in the distance. The dining room is a glass-walled panorama, and on fine days the terrace puts you practically at the water’s edge. This is seafood country, and the kitchen lets the ocean speak.
For more than thirty years, Le Vivier has been a fixture on this coast, earning a Michelin Recommended distinction for 2026. The team is described as “chic and relaxed” – professional without stiffness. The restaurant also holds the national Tables & Auberges label and a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence, but the real evidence is in the room: regulars, families, and travellers who return for the view and the cooking.
The menus are built around daily arrivals from the sea. The “Île de Groix” (€46) offers a starter, main, and dessert – or a lighter version without the starter or dessert. The “Belle-Île en Mer” (€72) stretches to four courses, with options like foie gras, crab velouté, and a choice of line-caught fish or lamb. The “Tout Homard” (€115) is a seasonal homage to lobster: a citrus and apple starter, a velouté with kari gosse, then Thermidor. There is also a vegetarian menu (€36) and a children’s menu (€24). The cooking is precise, the flavours clean – the sea, simply elevated.
