The story
Le Yachtman, on rue Poissonnière in the heart of Lorient, is both a restaurant and a wine cellar. The name echoes the town’s maritime soul, and the kitchen follows the same compass: the day’s catch from the port, seasonal vegetables, and a deep respect for the product. "Our cuisine is regional and oriented toward the open sea," the team says. It’s a market-driven approach, and the menu changes daily, written on the slate.
Chef Deian Cardoso leads the kitchen with his second and commis. The focus is on seafood – the restaurant describes itself as a true fish restaurant – but the cooking is never fussy. "We never invent anything, we innovate from the basics," they explain. "We are assemblers of taste." One signature dish that shows their attachment to the coast: poitrine de veau cuit 10 h, raviole au pain brûlé et bigorneaux (braised veal breast with burnt bread ravioli and winkles). It’s a dish that quietly surprises.
Three menus are offered, plus daily suggestions. The 28.50 € menu (25 € at lunch, except Friday and Saturday evenings and holidays) gives a choice of starter, main, and dessert. The 42.50 € menu and the 55 € / 69 € formulas offer more options, including a "Sea Starter – Land Starter" formula. Whatever you choose, the cooking is built on fresh, local produce – from the sea and the land.
The restaurant shares its space with a wine shop, open from morning to evening. The cellar offers a curated selection, and the team gives advice with the same care they bring to the plates. The philosophy: "Respecting the product means respecting the client."
Le Yachtman’s steady, honest work has been recognised by the Michelin guide, which recommends it. The praise is for the freshness of the products, the confident cooking, and the welcoming atmosphere. It’s a place where good memories are made around a table – without pretension.
