The story
On the banks of the Erdre river in Nantes, Le Manoir de la Régate is a family affair now led by Chef Mathieu Pérou. After his father Loïc ran the kitchen for over two decades, Mathieu took full reins in 2017, bringing a fresh perspective while honoring the house’s deep roots in the local terroir.
Mathieu’s culinary journey took him through prestigious kitchens in France, Australia, and the United States before returning home. His cooking is contemporary and creative, driven by a strong environmental conscience. He maintains close relationships with local producers, sourcing exceptional ingredients from those who share his commitment to quality and sustainability.
The restaurant’s own vegetable garden, just 50 metres away, supplies the kitchen with the help of a permaculture gardener. Professional fishermen Alain Baillet and Gilles Bégaud, working at the foot of the property, provide fish from the Erdre itself—pike, bream, catfish, carp, and mullet—using the Ikejime method for exceptional freshness.
This dedication to a responsible, local cuisine has earned Le Manoir de la Régate a Michelin star, alongside a Michelin Green Star for its sustainable practices, awarded since 2021. The restaurant also received the 2022 prize for welcome and service.
The menu changes with the seasons, offering a sensory progression through carefully balanced flavours and textures. The wine list, curated by sommelier Théo Tournade, highlights over 40 local crus among more than 350 references, regularly refreshed.
Le Manoir de la Régate serves lunch and dinner in a serene, verdant setting, with private dining available. It is a place where modern cuisine and deep respect for the land and water come together, guided by a chef who grew up on these banks.
