The story
On the Île de Nantes, a short walk from the city’s industrial heritage, Lulu le Bistrot offers something rare: a genuinely welcoming table that puts pleasure first. “Pas de chichi ni de prétention” – no fuss, no pretension. Just good food, good wine, and a great time. The restaurant earned a Michelin Recommended distinction in 2026, a nod to its honest, flavour-driven approach.
The interior, designed by Nathalie Rouger, blends the codes of a Parisian bistro, a Lyonnais bouchon, and a classic bouillon, reimagined with contemporary elegance. High ceilings, metal arches, mosaic flooring, a graphic bar, and accents of wood and brass create a space that feels both polished and warm. It’s a room that invites you to settle in.
The menu is short, seasonal, and built around produce and technique – not tricks. Dishes like œufs mimosa, crispy pork belly, and tender veal sweetbreads with deeply reduced sauces showcase the kitchen’s respect for the product and for cooking that tastes of something. Lunch brings a fixed-price menu (starter, main, dessert at €25), while the evening carte evolves with the seasons and the chef’s inspiration. The wine list, with nearly 100 references, leans heavily on French bottles, from natural gems to special-occasion treasures, and the team offers thoughtful, unpretentious guidance.
At the helm is Michelin-starred chef Ludovic Pouzelgues, who realised a long-held dream with Lulu le Bistrot: a convivial table where gastronomy feels free and relaxed. The entire team – in kitchen and dining room – shares a passion for quality ingredients and honest plates, driven by an exacting and generous spirit. Here, the pleasure of the meal is the only agenda.
