The story
Chef Stéphane Chenneveau, a native of the Vendée region, brings decades of experience from Michelin-starred kitchens to his own table in Nice. He describes himself as an “artisan cuisinier” and a member of the Collège Culinaire de France. At L’Atelier, he works like a scientist in a laboratory—constantly seeking balance while respecting the integrity of fresh, seasonal ingredients. His globe-trotting career has given him a precise touch, and guests can watch him orchestrate the kitchen through the open cooking space.
Situated a short walk from the Musée d’Art Contemporain, L’Atelier combines a sleek, design-conscious interior with a cosy, welcoming feel. From floor to ceiling, the decor is original and stylish, with clean-lined furniture. When the sun appears, the covered terrace offers a pleasant spot for dining al fresco. Whether inside or out, the setting is relaxed yet refined.
The menu changes with the seasons, but the approach remains constant: everything is made in-house, from socca to plancha-grilled dishes and desserts. The cuisine is inventive, flavour-forward, and carefully composed, with generous accompaniments. A thoughtfully curated wine list—with plenty of options by the glass—complements the food. L’Atelier’s dedication to quality and creativity has earned it a Michelin Recommended distinction, confirming what regulars already know: this is a restaurant where technique and taste meet without pretence.
