The story
In the heart of the Massif d'Uchaux, just outside Orange, Côté Sud is the kind of place that feels like a well-kept secret—a “jolie parenthèse,” as the owners describe it. Since 2017, Marie-Charlotte and Florian have been running this restaurant from their own home, and the warmth of that setting is immediate. In winter, the dining room is intimate and cosy; come summer, the shaded terrace becomes a green oasis.
Florian is the chef, and his cooking is rooted in the seasons. He describes his food as simple and generous, built on quality, homemade products. The Michelin guide has taken notice, awarding Côté Sud its Recommended status—a nod to the sincerity and skill at work here.
Côté Sud offers two main menu paths. The Menu Ephémère (35–39 €) changes regularly and is available most lunch and dinner services. For a deeper dive, the Menu Saisonnier (55 €) presents a choice of dishes that showcase the region’s best.
Starters might include a jarret de cochon with dried apricots and foie gras, a carrot and ginger purée alongside, or a maigre gravelax with watermelon, melon, and cucumber in a passion fruit vinaigrette. For mains, expect options like a medallion of hake with confit aubergine and mussels, or an éffiloché of duck with summer truffle, pak choi, celeriac, and hazelnuts. There is also an eight-hour cooked paleron of pork with piperade, olives, and chorizo, plus the chef’s daily suggestion. Desserts run to a Bellini-style vacherin with peach sorbet and prosecco, or a soft red-fruit biscuit with dark chocolate cream and raspberry-mint sorbet.
This is Modern Cuisine that stays close to its Provençal roots—generous, precise, and never overwrought. The menu changes with the market, so each visit brings something new.
