The story
At the crossroads of Bresse and Burgundy, in the small town of Pont-de-Vaux, Céline and Frédéric Michel welcome guests to Le Raisin. This is a restaurant that pairs a Michelin star with a genuine, unhurried warmth. The dining room feels comfortable and intimate, with simple, elegant décor – the kind of place where you can settle in for a family meal or a stop on a longer journey.
Chef Frédéric Michel cooks from a deep respect for the Bressane culinary tradition, but he is not bound by it. His menu draws on local, seasonal ingredients and lets them speak, while also introducing accents from around the world. The result is a refined yet sincere cuisine. A recent lunch menu, for example, might begin with an œuf parfait with red wine sauce, then move to a Thai fish curry with lemon-scented rice, and finish with the chef’s own tart. The dishes change daily, always anchored in the region’s best produce.
Alongside the starred dining room, Le Raisin also runs Le Grappillon, a more informal bistro space. Here the promise is fresh, local ingredients, well executed and quickly served – a simpler, convivial alternative that still carries the chef’s signature. A three-course lunch at Le Grappillon is priced at €20, making the restaurant’s quality accessible on a regular basis.
The Michelin star, awarded in 2026, reflects the precision and sincerity of the cooking. But the restaurant’s appeal goes beyond the plate. The service is attentive without being stiff, and the atmosphere encourages lingering. There is a private car park, wheelchair access, and air conditioning – small comforts that make a difference.
Le Raisin is the work of a team that believes in sharing good food, whether you are passing through on holiday, celebrating with family, or simply looking for a memorable meal in Pont-de-Vaux.
