The story
In the red-cliff village of Roussillon, Omma offers a restaurant that feels less like a destination and more like a continuation of something good. The name, meaning "mother" in Korean, speaks to the care that defines this place—care for the ingredient, for the season, and for the guest who walks through the door.
Hyesoo and Hugo took over a house that had been looked after by two previous keepers, Mr. David and Mr. Laborie, each of whom shaped its spirit over decades. Rather than reinvent, they chose to continue. The result is a restaurant that serves modern French cuisine rooted in the Luberon’s bounty, open to the ochre cliffs and Provençal light.
The atmosphere is intentionally simple. A small house, a few tables, an open view. What matters here is not spectacle but thoughtfulness—a place where hospitality is quiet and memorable for its ease. The kitchen works with the seasons, letting the produce of Provence speak in dishes that are refined without being fussy.
Omma has earned a place in the Michelin guide, a recognition that aligns naturally with the restaurant’s approach: precise, grounded, and generous. The dining room extends to an outdoor terrace, and the setting—Roussillon’s famous red cliffs and blue sky—is part of the meal.
This is modern French cuisine as it should be: connected to its place, prepared with care, and served without pretense. Omma continues its story one quiet day at a time.
