The story
For twenty years, Françoise and André Touati have run Au Cœur de la Forêt, a restaurant set in the heart of the Montmorency forest, just minutes from the bustle of the Paris region. The name – "In the Heart of the Forest" – is literal: diners eat surrounded by greenery that shifts with the seasons. The atmosphere is authentic and convivial, built on respect for fresh, seasonal produce and a commitment to homemade cooking.
The kitchen follows the rhythm of the market. The menu changes weekly, offering a short selection of starters, mains and desserts at 58€ for three courses (or 48€ for two). Recent examples include an assiette of fresh foie gras with old Muscat, pan-seared squid with Espelette pepper and confit tomatoes, and roasted monkfish with langoustine coulis and saffron. Meat lovers might find Cantal pork confit slow-cooked in a bread oven, or grilled veal kidney with green peppercorns. Desserts range from a chocolate fondant to a raspberry soufflé. A children's menu is available at 12€.
The restaurant’s consistent quality earned it a Michelin Recommended award in 2026. The dining room is air-conditioned, and in warmer months the terrace offers an outdoor escape. Parking is available, and the restaurant can be privatised for events. The forest location also makes it a convenient stop near the Domont Montmorency golf course.
