The story

L'Auberge - Maisons Glenn Anna: Modern Cuisine in Sainte-Anne-d'Auray | Wattafork

A Family Affair in the Heart of Brittany

In the quiet village of Sainte-Anne-d'Auray, between Lorient and Vannes, L'Auberge - Maisons Glenn Anna stands as a testament to three generations of hospitality. What began in 1983 when Françoise and Jean-Luc Larvoir transformed an old post house into a restaurant with six rooms has grown into a small estate of three establishments, each with its own personality. The restaurant L'Auberge is the gastronomic heart of the family, now run by their daughter Claire and her husband Julien, who took over the kitchen in 2015.

Modern Cuisine Rooted in Local Traditions

The cooking at L'Auberge is a reflection of the region and the family's philosophy: generous, honest, and full of character. Jean-Luc, who still oversees the wine program and sources directly from vintners, instilled a deep respect for quality ingredients. The modern cuisine here draws on Breton produce—seafood from the nearby Gulf of Morbihan, vegetables from local farms, and the classic buckwheat farz. A recent dish, filet de bœuf fumé with courgette, farz de blé noir, aigre-doux de cerise and pistachio cream, shows how the kitchen balances tradition with contemporary technique.

A Warm Welcome, Every Time

The atmosphere at L'Auberge is deliberately unpretentious. Françoise set the tone from day one: an attentive, sincere welcome that makes guests feel like they are being received in a family home. That spirit endures. Whether you come for lunch, dinner, or a private event, the service is professional yet relaxed. The dining room opens onto outdoor seating in fine weather, and the restaurant is fully accessible.

Recognized for Excellence

L'Auberge's consistent quality has earned it a Michelin Recommended distinction, a nod to the kitchen's precision and the warmth of the experience. It is a place where the pleasure of the table is taken seriously, but never stiffly—a true expression of the Larvoir family's passion for sharing good food and good company.
