The story
In the heart of Sancerre, Chef Yann Tournier and his wife, sommelier Justine Heuzé, run an intimate 20-seat restaurant that draws a direct line from the Atlantic coast to the vineyards of the Loire. Their concept, described as gastronomie intuitive, is a focused, seafood-driven expression of modern cuisine that earned a Michelin star.
The journey begins with the products themselves. Tournier works with seafood, shellfish, and crustaceans sourced directly from Brittany, pairing them with the vegetables and produce of the Berry region. Menus are singular and seasonal—there is no à la carte—and change according to the catch and the chef’s inspiration. Guests choose from the Découverte, Armor, or Argoat menus, each an unfolding narrative of the sea.
A typical meal might begin with an “Empreinte de Thon Rouge” before moving to a “Langoustine et Pomme de terre de Noirmoutier” and a “Poisson d’Armor un jour de Printemps,” closing with desserts like “Le Chocolat de Dagda.” The cooking is precise and layered, with guests noting a deeply vegetable-forward, herbaceous quality alongside the clean flavors of the sea.
Heuzé oversees the wine cellar, a carefully curated selection of organic, biodynamic, and natural wines from Sancerre and beyond. Her approach is exploratory, matching the restaurant’s fluid, ingredient-led style.
The dining room is described as sober and elegant, with a calm, professional service. La Pomme d’Or is open for lunch and dinner, and the restaurant advises that it does not accommodate tables larger than six people.
