The story
Ô Moulin occupies an old water mill in Carsac-Aillac, a few minutes from Sarlat-la-Canéda. The setting is calm and unhurried – a terrace by the water, a bar, and a dining room that feels both rustic and refined. The building itself is part of the appeal: a beautifully converted mill that belonged to the region’s milling history.
The restaurant is the project of a chef and his wife, both of whom trained with great chefs and Meilleurs Ouvriers de France before settling here. The chef’s words are direct: “Pour moi, être cuisinier est une évidence.” Together, they created the restaurant they wanted to run – a place where the cooking is driven by the seasons and the best of the local larder.
The kitchen works with fresh, seasonal ingredients sourced from local artisans. The Périgord is famous for its gastronomy – duck, walnuts, mushrooms, and truffles – and Ô Moulin’s modern cuisine respects that heritage while keeping the plates light and contemporary. The menu changes regularly, offering several ways to discover the region’s produce, from a simple lunch to a full dinner.
In the 2026 edition of the Michelin Guide France, Ô Moulin received a Bib Gourmand, the guide’s award for good quality, good value cooking. It’s a fitting recognition for a restaurant that balances ambition with honest, accessible pricing.
Beyond the dining room, the team offers catering and private event services, and the restaurant can be reserved for seminars, family gatherings, or business meals. The property also has ample parking and is wheelchair accessible.
