Since opening, the listed Haag-Villa from 1877 has been a place of art. At AUGUST, that spirit lives on in both the atmosphere of this exceptional building and the highly personal, thought-driven cuisine—a style you will not find twice.
Chef Christian Grünwald’s cooking is inspired by nature: by regions, by the sea, by the garden. The ingredients are outstanding, the dishes finely balanced. They are served on illuminated “showcase” tables, with decorations and edible elements displayed under glass. All of this unfolds in stylish rooms with high ceilings, parquet flooring, and art.
Guests enjoy the finest hand-selected produce from wonderful people, gardeners, and organic farmers both local and further afield. The experience takes place in two exclusive salons—and, when the weather cooperates, on both terraces overlooking the park. The service is calm and well-rehearsed; Christian Grünwald himself is often present, explaining his creations.
The restaurant has been awarded two stars by the Guide Michelin, a recognition that speaks to the excellent cooking and the singular vision at work here. Additional accolades include a place in the Gusto Top 10 for most individual handwriting, Top 50 Schlemmer Atlas, Varta 4 out of 5 Diamonds, and a spot among 100 Best Chefs.
Every Sunday, AUGUST offers a fine dining lunch in the villa’s relaxed midday atmosphere—a four-course menu for €130, with wine pairing for €150. It is an invitation to slow down and spend time with the people who matter, surrounded by extraordinary food and architecture.
