The story

Château Royal Berlin – Mediterranean Dining in Berlin-Mitte

Origin and Philosophy

The restaurant at Château Royal is a culinary extension of the hotel—quality-obsessed yet relaxed, hedonistic and undogmatic. This welcoming, cosmopolitan spot in Berlin-Mitte offers a menu built around personal favorites, where Mediterranean cuisine is interpreted with modern lightness and a deep respect for ingredients.

The Food

The kitchen focuses on uncomplicated Mediterranean classics with refined flavors. Pasta and salsiccia are made in-house; honey is harvested from the hotel’s own rooftop. The menu rotates regularly with the seasons, but constants include whole grilled fish from sustainable sources. Whether for a quick business lunch, Sunday brunch, or a leisurely dinner surrounded by contemporary art, the cooking here is grounded, honest, and always satisfying.

Setting and Atmosphere

Guests can dine in the charming inner courtyard or on the rooftop terrace with panoramic views over Berlin-Mitte—both open when weather permits. Inside, the vibe is effortlessly cosmopolitan, blending hotel elegance with a laid-back neighborhood feel. The lively hotel bar serves small plates alongside an extensive wine list with a focus on small-production Burgundy and a curated selection of German and international wines. Signature cocktails, such as the Negroni Sous Vide made with Amalfi lemon and Sicilian blood orange, reflect the team’s passion and creativity.

Recognition

The restaurant’s commitment to quality has earned it a Michelin Recommendation, confirming what regulars already know: this is Mediterranean cuisine that feels both special and comfortably familiar, right in the center of Berlin.

Concept Colors, shapes, materials – everything in this extraordinary hotel celebrates the bohemian style around 1900. With Norbert Krüger as the new man behind the stove, the perfect culinary counterpart has now been found. Available à la carte. Culinary Style Krüger, formerly at "Fischers Fritz" (The Regent) under Christian Lohse, cooks classical Mediterranean with an avant-garde twist. For instance, when he pairs half a king quail, seared hard on the outside while still nearly rare inside, complete with feet and claw, with cinnamon-lemon, garlic cream, and archaic-salty Colatura di Alici, fermented fish sauce. He garnishes a fillet of skinless dorade poached in the juice of baked cherry tomatoes with caper leaves from Pantelleria. Wine Restaurant manager and Head of Wine Florian Seufer-Wasserthal favors seasoned artisans such as Lichtenberger González on Lake Neusiedl or Domaine Roulot, whose Bourgogne Blanc vintages from 2014 onward are available. Atmosphere A flamboyant yet refined club vibe. Head waiter Amar Mohammed is a delight. Excellent cocktails at the bar. Verdict A delightful oasis within walking distance of the Brandenburg Gate.
