The story

Crackers Berlin: Michelin-Recommended International Dining at Former Cookies Club

From legendary club to acclaimed restaurant

Crackers occupies the last venue of Berlin’s iconic Cookies Club, a space that nightlife impresario Cookie Heinz Gindullis transformed in 2014 into a restaurant that feels both celebratory and grounded. The heavy gate on Friedrichstraße opens into an ocean of cool blue — a dining room where the music, mood, and flavours intertwine. The restaurant has earned a Michelin Recommended distinction, recognition woven into an atmosphere that the team describes as “like a celebration.”

Season-driven international cooking

The kitchen, led by head chef Felix Klawitter, crafts a menu that spans vegetables, fish, and meats — a contemporary take on international cuisine rooted in carefully sourced ingredients. Vegetables and herbs come from a farmer in Krielow, Brandenburg; meat is free-range; fish is wild-caught or from strictly ecological aquacultures.

Dishes change with the seasons but recent offerings include a starter of crayfish from Danish aquaculture with bell pepper, tangerine, and coriander, and a vegan mushroom soup with porcini and beech mushrooms. For mains, wild-caught Skrei from Norway’s Lofoten islands is paired with edamame, kidney beans, and saffron, while a free-range Irish striploin comes with celery, shallot, and lovage. A dedicated vegan section features cauliflower with red onion and lemongrass, and a spring roll with mushroom, herb salad, and cherry-sweet-chili. Desserts include a vegan citrus plate and a vegetarian cheesecake with lemon, lime, and meringue.

The bar programme complements the food with reinterpretations of cocktail classics and house creations made with hand-made infusions, spices from the kitchen, and fresh herbs.

A team with deep roots in Berlin

Gindullis arrived in Berlin from London in 1992 and started as a dishwasher before founding Cookies Club and, later, the pioneering vegetarian fine-dining restaurant Cookies Cream. He was honoured with Berlin’s Meisterköche Gastronomy Innovation award in 2022. Klawitter, who rejoined Crackers in 2022, brings experience from Hotel Adlon and Sra Bua by Tim Raue, balancing simplicity with Asian and Latin American influences. The restaurant also offers a private dining space for groups.
