The story
MaMi's is the story of two siblings, Marcel and Miriam, who combined their strengths to create a restaurant that feels both personal and polished. Marcel cooks; Miriam curates the wine list and hosts. The name itself is a contraction of their first names, and the place reflects their shared passion for pairing excellent food with excellent wine. This philosophy has earned MaMi's a Michelin Bib Gourmand, an award that recognises good quality, good value cooking – a fitting nod to a restaurant that puts genuine craftsmanship before pretence.
The cooking at MaMi's is best described as modern international cuisine with a comfort-driven twist. Marcel draws on his experience in top international kitchens and his travels, but the result is never fussy. Nearly everything is made in-house: soy sauce, seitan, mayonnaise. The team sources ingredients both regionally and beyond, always chasing the best flavour. The menu changes regularly, but the guiding principle stays the same: creative, delicious, and never intimidating.
A centrepiece of the experience is the sharing menu, playfully named after the Brothers Grimm tale “Tischlein deck dich” – a table that lays itself. Available in eight or ten courses, it’s designed to be passed around the table, encouraging conversation and discovery. Alongside the sharing option, à la carte dishes range from a vibrant gelbflossenmakrele (yellowfin jack) with coriander cream to a vegan faux-gras with waffle and Madeira. Vegetarian versions are available for most dishes.
Miriam’s wine list is anything but an afterthought. The restaurant’s tag “Food & Wine” is a promise: each bottle is chosen to complement the food, and the pairing is central to the meal. Whether you opt for the full pairing or choose your own, the emphasis is on individuality and surprise. The space itself – warm, unpretentious, with outdoor seating in the warmer months – invites you to linger.
MaMi’s is located on Oderberger Straße in Berlin’s Prenzlauer Berg, a neighbourhood known for its relaxed energy. The siblings describe their approach as “young and uncomplicated” – they want guests to feel the same joy they bring to their work. It’s a place where modern cuisine meets genuine hospitality, and where a Bib Gourmand recognition feels less like a badge and more like a natural reflection of what they do every day.
