The story
High above Berlin, on the 12th floor of the Vienna House by Wyndham Andel’s, SKYKITCHEN offers a dining experience that pairs refined modern cuisine with an uninterrupted panorama of the city. The restaurant has held a Michelin star for eleven consecutive years, most recently reaffirmed in 2025, a recognition of its consistent commitment to quality.
The atmosphere is deliberately unpretentious. Velvet seating meets raw screed floors; vintage furniture is paired with elegant copper accents. The space thrives on contrasts, creating a setting that feels both special and relaxed.
Chef Christopher Jäger leads the kitchen with a philosophy of reduction. His cooking is stripped of ornament, focused instead on clarity, honest flavour, and the quality of each ingredient. Dishes follow the rhythm of the season, with a strong sense of responsibility towards the product and its origin. He describes his style as “creative, fresh and uncomplicated” – much like the city itself.
Jäger’s approach is rooted in early memories of his grandmother’s garden, where he learned to appreciate variety and naturalness. Those foundations are visible on every plate: each component has a purpose, each texture its place, and the ingredients are allowed to speak for themselves, enhanced only by subtle nuances.
Matthias Lofent has recently taken over as host, bringing years of experience in fine dining along with a genuine warmth. He and his team focus on personal contact and heartfelt service, ensuring the evening feels natural rather than formal. The goal is to create memorable moments that go beyond the food itself.
The restaurant is open from Wednesday to Saturday, starting at 18:00. The menu is a five-course affair, and the wine list has been recognised with a Star Wine List Silver Winner award. The space is wheelchair accessible and air-conditioned, and vegetarian options are available.
