The story
On the EUREF-Campus in Berlin-Schöneberg, a place where the city’s future is being shaped, The CORD offers a dining experience rooted in a different kind of innovation. The restaurant takes its name and inspiration from the “Cord 810/812” from 1937 – the first streamlined vehicle, a symbol of the pioneering spirit that also defines this forward-looking neighborhood.
The team is led by Culinary Director Thomas Kammeier, a master chef whose skills were previously recognized with a Michelin star at Hugos in Berlin. He works alongside Head Chef Florian Peters, whose background includes the Grand Hyatt at Potsdamer Platz, and Restaurant Manager Olaf Rode, a passionate veteran of Berlin’s top restaurants. Together, they focus on a holistic fine-dining experience.
The setting is as striking as the food. The interior features six-meter-high ceilings and is inspired by the Art Deco style of the 1920s and 30s. A show kitchen, a separate bar, and the historic Cord automobile itself define the space. In warmer months, a newly designed terrace with lush planting and a flexible pergola offers an “urban jungle” in the middle of the campus.
The contemporary cuisine emphasizes high-quality ingredients, with many seasonal and regional products complemented by select items from around the world. The CORD’s commitment to this standard was recognized by the Michelin Guide, which has recommended the restaurant. This award, along with back-to-back Diner’s Choice Awards from OpenTable, reflects the team’s dedication to their guests.
Beyond the regular menu, The CORD frequently opens its doors for pop-up events and themed dinners, from Champagne evenings with views over Berlin to collaborations with celebrated guest chefs. Whether for an intimate dinner or a private event, the team at The CORD creates moments defined by genuine hospitality and a love for detail.
