The story
For 25 years, Hopmanns Olive has been a fixture in Erkrath-Hochdahl, near Düsseldorf, built on a philosophy of genuine encounters and honest cooking. The restaurant’s 2026 Michelin recommendation is a natural extension of this commitment to quality, craftsmanship, and a love for detail. The team’s guiding principle is simple: to make every guest feel so at home that they become a friend of the house.
The dining experience is defined by its unique location. The restaurant is set adjacent to a historic locomotive shed, whose impressive architecture provides a dramatic backdrop. During warmer months, the green summer garden offers a more relaxed, open-air alternative. This contrast between industrial heritage and natural tranquility creates the atmosphere that defines a meal here.
The kitchen is driven by a blend of Mediterranean and regional influences, a combination the restaurant has honed for over two decades. Guests can choose from a regularly changing à la carte menu or opt for the multi-course Hopmanns Menü, which showcases the kitchen's signature style. A special Montagsmenü offers six small surprise courses, served table-wide, and is presented as a welcome start to the week. The carefully curated wine list, featuring selections from Germany and Italy, is designed to complement the Contemporary cuisine.
