The story
Weedenhof sits in the old wine village of Jugenheim, in the heart of Rheinhessen, surrounded by vineyards and orchards. The restaurant is furnished in country-house style – wood, natural stone, and warm Mediterranean colours create a relaxed, welcoming space. With room for up to 55 guests, small seating nooks between rustic half-timbering add to the cosy feel. In summer, the garden terrace opens for lighter meals outdoors.
Chef Michael Knöll runs the kitchen with his family team, cooking a grounded, regional cuisine shaped by Mediterranean influences. The kitchen works with market-fresh produce, sourcing as much as possible from local farms and growers – a true farm-to-table approach that keeps the menu seasonal and honest. This commitment to quality and value earned Weedenhof a Michelin Bib Gourmand in 2026.
The menu changes with the seasons, but always offers a vegetarian option, a surprise multi-course menu, and the signature Weedenhof menu with wine pairing. Starters might include grilled octopus with chorizo and tomato pesto, or a wild garlic cream soup. Mains range from stuffed rabbit leg in a parmesan crust to braised veal with root vegetables and lamb with herb crust. Desserts like apricot dumplings with sabayone and vanilla ice cream or a mascarpone mousse with passion fruit sorbet round off the meal. The vegetarian menu highlights dishes such as baked feta cheese and stuffed pointed peppers with fregola sarda.
