The story
Since 2005, Atelier Gourmet has been a fixture of Haidhausen, Munich’s French Quarter. The restaurant, with about 35 seats and a small terrace, brings classic French and Mediterranean cuisine to the city with a clear, confident approach.
The menu is built around multi-course dinners. Guests are asked to choose at least a five-course menu, with six- and seven-course options also available. A recent menu shows a duck liver terrine with Calvados-glazed apple and a seared scallop with saffron-orange sauce as possible starters. The meal moves through a Jerusalem artichoke course, a roasted skrei fillet with a piquillo pepper sauce, and braised beef shoulder in red wine with creamy polenta. Dessert is a vanilla parfait with white chocolate, tarragon, and passion fruit.
Wine is treated as an essential part of the meal. The list runs from well-known bottles to rare finds, and a wine pairing is offered for each menu length. The restaurant’s recognition in the Michelin guide reflects the precision and care in both the cooking and the service.
The dining room is relaxed and personal. The team’s stated goal is for guests to feel at home, and the atmosphere supports that—unfussy, welcoming, and focused on the food. A small outdoor terrace offers seating in warmer months.
Atelier Gourmet is open Monday through Friday evenings, closed on weekends. It is a steady, reliable presence for classic French cooking in Munich.
