The story
Villa Amalfi delivers refined Italian cuisine to the heart of Munich. The kitchen draws direct inspiration from the Amalfi coast, where daily fresh catches and sun-ripened ingredients form the foundation of every plate. Italian cooking here leans on traditional recipes that receive a modern interpretation, relying on fragrant basil, quality olive oil, and the region’s famous lemons. The menu shifts between à la carte selections and seasonal menus, ensuring the culinary focus remains on authentic coastal rhythms.
The dining room sits within the Bogenhauser Hof, a listed building carrying almost two hundred years of local hospitality tradition. A complete restoration completed in 2023 refined the spaces without stripping their character. Patrons select between the central hall, four separate themed rooms, or the sheltered inner courtyard terrace that functions as a quiet green oasis. This careful preservation earned the venue two spoons from the Schlemmer Atlas in 2026, acknowledging both the architecture and the consistent food quality.
The kitchen highlights specific preparations that anchor this Italian cuisine in coastal traditions. Hand-cut beef tartare arrives with Sardinian Carasau bread, while the delicate lobster foam soup carries the venue’s name across the table. Warm mains feature San Daniele ham and sage wrapped around veal cutlets in a white wine sauce, accompanied by crispy fried potatoes prepared with plenty of garlic. A dedicated bar balances these plates through precise glassware and expert mixology under the direction of operators Karl Rieder and Kian Moussavi.
